mobi boom, or whatever that means....

This book is pretty ok to good.
I did have to work hard to
find 20 images that interested me
enough to post.
Most pieces were either too dry
or I had seen them a million times before.
The vintage advertisements
are the best, and I have included a few.
I'm sure the exhibition was great,
and I wish I had seen it.
The book comes with a CD
which I am looking forward to watching later.

Pierre Paulin
Apartment for the president of the
Georges Pompidou School(?)
1971-72

My French is terrible,
so please excuse these translations,
they are probably all wrong,
but I am too lazy to Google translate everything,
and those come out wrong
90% of the time anyway....

Hugues Steiner and Sylvain Joly
"Swany" chair
Édition Steiner
1970

Janine Abraham and Dirk Jan Rol
"Soleil" Chair
1958

Rotaflex hanging lamps
1963
So I thought these were American,
maybe they are... anyone know
for sure?

1952 Pierre Disderot shop advertisement
featuring the amazing
Pierre Guariche floor lamp.
I watched some numbskull buy one
of these in front of me at the
Kane County Flea Market for nothing
years ago. It still make me sick to this day
thinking about it....

Serge Mouille Lamps
1956
Now these are the lamps you should have
been buying back then,
fuck the Rotaflex and even the Guariche.
If I had a time machine....

Michel Buffet
Table lamp
Édition Luminalite
1953
This is a sweet little lamp. And it is little,
tiny actually, which makes me like it a bit less,
but the design is so simple, elegant
and beautiful....

Pierre Paulin
Adjustable chaise lounge
"Déclive"
1966-68
This is amazing, reminds me of a caterpillar...

Quasar Khanh
"Apollo" chaise lounge
Édition Quasar
1968
I have a TON of this Quasar inflatable furniture.
Who wants to do a show?

Jean-Pierre Laporte
"Ondes" series
1973

Roset furniture advertisement
Bernard Govin
"Asmara" modular lounge chairs
1966
The French get started young non?
How old are these kids in this ad?
1966 too... PARTY!

Roset furniture advertisement
"Kali" lounge chairs by Michel Ducaroy
1970

Roche-Bobois showroom
Paris
1975

Knoll International advertisement
"Culbuto" chairs by Marc Held
1970

René_Jean Caillette
"Coccinelle" stacking chairs
Édition Steiner
1957
I like these more than I would expect.
They are riffing on the Eames
but doing their own thang....

Roger Tallon
"Lit Métamorphique Trapézoidal"
1966
Jousse Entreprise had this for sale at
Design Miami/Basel this year.
Wish I had been there...
:(

Parisian interior
1972
That is one big beanbag monster in the corner.
Who designed that??
I can't remember...

Interior of the lobby of the magazine
"Meubles et Fonction"
Paris
1971
Pierre Paulin designed the interior
and the furniture.
Demisch Danant replicated
this ceiling treatment at Design Miami last year.
It was the best booth at the fair.
These are my pictures from an old post
that can be seen in full
