Ok
you could almost spit on
this
sculpture from your offices in City Hall.
The Cops
at One Police Plaza
could piss on it,
it's so close to headquarters,
and it looks like they may have been have been.
Maybe Tony
is no
Alexander Calder,
but
COME ON!
This is embarrassing....
"5 in 1" sits between One Police Plaza
and
One Center Street.
(Not exactly out of the way...
Well, maybe a little,
since 9/11,
but that is no excuse!)
There were many tourist around when I took these shots.
A kid asked me for directions to Pier 17
and I
TOTALLY
gave him the wrong directions.
I felt bad about that all day.
Hopefully he stumbled upon something
cool he and his family would have otherwise not seen,
at least I like to hope that....
ROSENTHAL
1971-74
FIRST PRIZE
"5 in 1"
Well,
It was restored in 1989.
Time to do it again....
APOLLON WATERPROOFING
AND
RESTORATION CORP.
The skateboarders,
you can't blame them.
The thing looks like it has been abandoned.
Flying rat poop
and
paint do not mix....
Rusty in a bad way,
not a Richard Serra
way.
(He's my neighbor! And yes, he
could kick everyone's ass!)
This thing is so cool too,
and
HUGE!
More neglect.
It can't paint itself
Mr. Mayor.
Sigh....
At least it is still in place.
Anyone remember
"Tilted Arc"
?
That's the majestic
Beaux-Arts
standing proudly, yet sadly
behind it,
designed by none other than
McKim, Mead and White.
Please NYC,
a proper paint job wouldn't
cost
that much....
So sad.
