eileen grey: ahead of her time....

Eileen Gray
Photographed by Bernice Abbott
Paris
1926

I'm not sure why I haven't posted about
Eileen Gray before.
I've been a big fan forever.
Maybe it's because I am
"light in the library"
when it comes to her?
Anyhoo,
I dug out this little gem of
a monograph from 1986:
by Peter Adam.
The reproductions aren't great,
but this is a start,
and look for more on
the modernist pioneer soon...

no two custom pieces were ever exactly the same....

  1. Only just found your blog, wonderful stuff! Great to see so much of Eileen Grey's work, have you come across anything designed or painted by another of her lovers, Elizabeth Eyre de Lanux? I'm trying to write about her, but there's very little of her work visible anywhere.
