Brancusi is 135

I'm a day late and a dollar short,
but happy 135th
I would say he is the most famous Romanian,
behind
of course.

I've always loved the period shots of his
crazy sick amazing studio.

You can of course still see
relocated to
the

He always looked so crabby too.
Which I liked.

Don't mess with Constantin!

Is that
"Princess X"
in the back or are you just glad to see me?

There are too many sculptures to
name all of them in this post.
But
"Cup 1"
is awesome!
Let's not forget it is 1914....
I mean come on,
1914?
Fuck all y'all!
You go Constany!

The light, the space,
it kind of defines the
dream studio.

I love this shot....

with some terrific shadows.

"Bird in Space"
1928
I could tell a boring story about when I was an
art student and was invited to a party the
Cliff Dwellers Club
and as we headed up the stairs
there was a bronze "Bird in Space"
towering over us as we headed up to the terrace.
They sold it I think.
Idiots.

"Self Portrait in the Studio"
1920-22?

1925
Come on!
I wonder what the rent was in 1925?

More versions of "Large Cock".
(I will never get tired of typing that!)
I think this is a repeat photo,
but come on,
who gets tired of
"Large Cock"?

"Brancusi and Romanian Friend"
1930
I KNOW he is smiling here!

"View of Studio"
1933
Look!
There's a small black "Cock" on the mantle!

Whew!

  3. well, i'm afraid, after Dracula and Nicolae Ceausescu... or Nadia Comaneci, if we think of good memories.

This is an amazing post... have never seen these photos... i really love his works, the more popular ones, like the various muses, and Mademoiselle Pogany as weel. I just learned, that Mademoiselle Pogany was a Hungarian painter... i had to look it up, because i was curious... "pogány" in Hungarian means pagan (and of course, it's a family name, too), and i was sure this was not just a coincidence.
