charlotte perriand: cute as a bug and sharp a a whip!

They say behind every great man
there is an even greater woman.
I think this was especially the case with
Charlotte Perriand.
But unlike a lot of the
great behind the scenes
women,
she got her due.
(most of the time)
So, not only was she beautiful,
she must have been tough, and
above all, smart.
Plus she designs a hell of a bookcase,
among other things....

  4. Her first Husband Percy Kilner Scholefield is my wifes uncle. Her was contrary to popular belief influential in her early life before Le Corbu.A person of independant means, textile inporter, was in france during WW1 & 2.
Multi lingual, an expert skier with great knowledge of the alps, long before ski resorts exited, arrested by the Gestapo and held for two weeks, many obtuse references in his photo albums and some other references to possible covert activities during that period of his life. Comment has been placed because generally he is a shadowy figure in the background of her life, possibly for just reason. Thanx Paddy Hynes

  5. David, can I add you in my Google circles? I am doing a research on Charlotte and the silence about her two husbands is a little bit disturbing. I'd like to have the opportunity to know a little bit about P. Shcoelenfield. Best, Silvana
