art basel miami 2010 some of my personal highlights....

Mondoblogoites:
Sorry for the delays in posting....
Lots of minor problems getting in my way,
but I am finally back in action!
Here are some, just a few, maybe just part one of some of my personal pics
from Art Basel and the surrounding satellite fairs.
Just things that made me stop and want to take a picture.
There was so much amazing art,
and I could have picked
sensational or weird or shocking or even bad art,
but instead, I just went with things I liked,
for whatever reason....
Roy Lichtenstein
"Untitled"
(Swiss Cheese Doors)
1980s
I heard several people say this was their favorite piece
in the show... I wouldn't go that far,
but it is pretty special.

This was at Jessica Bradley
Art + Projects
at NADA.
Don't know who the artist is, tried to google it,
nuthin'.
I like it though.
UPDATE:
A reader gave me the artists name and
a link to more work in the comments section.
He believes it is:
UPDATE #2:
It IS:
Derek Sullivan
"Stack"
2004

More on Derek

Lauren DiCioccio
"Little Bunny"
2010
This kinda summed up Aqua,
(which I really liked)
edgy, irreverent, and crafty.

Jill Sylvia
"Untitled"
2010
(Jefferson Memorial)
Sold at 13K
This is hand-cut ledger paper.
Jill is an obsessive compulsive anal retentive,
just like me!

Yves Klein
"SE 250"
1959
This was sold too.
It was just a tad more than 13K....

Robert Indiana
"Nine"
1965
(Or flip it over if you prefer "Six")

Wayne Thiebaud
"Melon"
1962
(Detail)
I HATE cantaloupe, but I could eat this all up...

Naum Gabo
"Torsion"
(Variation)
1975
(Detail)
If you spell Naum's name backwards,
you get
Obag Muan.
Just incase you were wondering.

Tom Friedman
"Untitled"
(School Chair)
1992-2010
Love the chair, hate the floor.

Ugo Rondine
That's all the dirt I got on this feller....

Günther Uecker
"White Spiral/Bright Spiral"
1970
(Detail)
This was on hold at $850,000.00
I'm sure it sold because it was amazing.

Max Gomez Canle
Me like.

Roberto Aizenberg
Me like too.
Think these two were/are friends?
They should be.

Beth Campbell
"Untitled"
2010
I want this to be my new, working, real sink
SO BADLY!

Tom Sachs
"LEM Face"
(1/3 Scale)
2010
I have a "Man Crush"
on Tom.
I met him on a private yacht during a tequila tasting
(no shit)
and he was super cool.

This is my friend
Evan Penny....

and he is art.

Evan Penny
"Old Self"
(Portrait of the artist as he will not be)
Variation #1
2010

A Kasssen
"Postal Statue"
2010
Ignore the man in the reflection,
he is crazy....

Robert Graham
"Untitled"
1969
"Untitled"?
It should have been titled:
"Tiny wax figures that gave me a boner in a convention hall and I'm not even kidding"

Agnes Martin
"Untitled"
1960
Yes please.

Alison Rossiter
"Fuji, exact expiration date unknown, ca. 1930s, processed in 2010"
2010
I really liked these being a former dark room technician.

Gabriel de la Mora
"30,661 Knots"
2010
This is made of knotted human hair.
Mr. Mora, you win.

Laurent Grasso
"Studies into the past - Projection"
2010
(Detail)

This picture doesn't do this picture justice.
(Don't you love (hate?) how the
"professional" "Art World" calls "paintings"
"pictures"?
Why is that Greg.org???

Richard Hughes
"Untitled"
2010
This is great for so many reasons.

Maybe I will do a part 2
tomorrow???

  1. OH yes please part 2. My daughter was looking at the post with me and when it came to the little wax boner people she asked "how do they smell?"

  3. pictures? must be a generational thing.

  4. Maybe I am confusing "art world" with "auction world". I think it could be generational too....

  9. they should ask for a boner instead of an entrance ticket.

    ReplyDelete
  10. what i really wanted to say is that they should give you a boner everytime you visit instead of taking entrance fees..
english is not an easy task.
