!HAPPY NEW YEAR!
Let's get 2013 started off right with a little
kidding around.
Here are the five finalists for the
the Corcoran Gallery's School of Art
National Playground Sculpture Competition
of 1967.
I found these in an olde
"Art in America"
from the same year.
"A in A"
was pretty amazing back then,
now,
not so much....
Colin Greenly
"Wishbone House"
1967
This here was the winner.
It was actually produced and is still standing
in several locations.
More on it's history,
via
MoMA's Tumblr
HERE.
Lyman Kipp
"Tripoli"
1967
That puppy would get hot in the summertime....
Tony Berlant
"The Marriage of New York and Athens"
1967
This is a winner....
NOT!
Look at those kids,
they look terrified
to be in that thang
or
bored
or
both......
Roger Bolomey
"Phoebe"
1967
This one would look great in my apartment,
but
I'm not feeling it as a
piece of playground
That's all folks!
Short and sweet!
Oh yeah!
Check out
a blog about playground design.
Pretty cool....
Later
P- I think you're being a little harsh on the 67 playground equipment... I know plenty of other people's kids that I'd love to throw in that metal jailhouse entry!
